  • CPSC, Sassy Announce Voluntary Recall to Remove Squirting Fish from Bath Toys
    In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Sassy Inc., of Kentwood, Mich., is voluntarily replacing about 370,000 squirting fish in the Scoop Pour 'N Squirt and Bath Time Pals bath toys.

  • PVC Baby Toys Removed From Shelves Following Greenpeace Action
    Following Greenpeace's action today, Toys'R'US Austrian headquarters have withdrawn from their shelves the 5 baby toys identified by Greenpeace as PVC, asking all Toys'R'US shops throughout the country to do the same immediately. The company also committed to identify and withdraw all PVC baby toys from their stores in Austria within two weeks.

  • CPSC Announces Results of Investigation of Yo-Yo Water Ball Toys
    The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission believes there is a low but potential risk of strangulation from the yo-yo water ball toy. The stretchy cord of the toy can wrap around a child’s neck when the child swings the toy overhead like a lasso. Parents who are concerned about this risk could, in addition to closely supervising the use of this toy, cut the cord off the toy (leaving a squishy toy ball for children to play with) or throw the toy away.

  • Outdoor Toy Of The Year
    X Concepts Water Worm was named the Outdoor Toy of the Year for 2003 by the Australian Toy Association. The announcement was made this week at the annual Australian Toy Fair in Melbourne, where Funtastic Limited, the Australian distributor of Water Worms, accepted the award.

  • Some Inflatable Water Toys are not Fully Compliant with Product Safety Regulations
    During the Summer months, inspectors from the Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs carried out a survey into the safety of items intended to be used in the water by children and adults. This initiative was undertaken in conjunction with the Irish Water Safety Association.

  • Swimways Corp. Announce Recall of Pool Dive Sticks
    In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Swimways Corp., of Virginia Beach, Va., is voluntarily recalling about 25,000 packages of dive sticks (each package contains four dive sticks), which fail to meet the commission’s safety requirements. Children can fall or land on these dive sticks in shallow water and may suffer impalement injuries.
