GI Joe Toys Have Made Their Mark In Toy History

Some toys make more of an impact in the market place than others do. GI Joe toys are responsible for making a huge change in the very nature of that market. GI Joe action figures are credited with being the first action figure ever marketed to the consumer. It takes the pleasure of being the first toy of it’s kind and open a whole new world of small action figures and dolls to children all over the world. The first GI Joe toys appeared in 1964 as a twelve-inch action figure doll named after the hero of a current movie. In 1967 the line of figures had become so popular that talking figures were added.

The manufacturer continued to add themes such as Canadian Mounties’ versions and the whole US army and it’s various units. They pride themselves in authenticity and are in some ways reality based toys. GI Joe toys now include not only the action figures but also a very large selection of support toys and vehicles to compliment the themes. Some specific figures have been added with super strengths and hero status to add some extra excitement. The more figures a child has, the greater the play possibilities.

GI Joe toys seem to be a series of action figures and supporting toys that will be around for a long time. They are more than just nice little dolls. They tell a story of military history that collectors are fast to inform us of. GI Joe changes with the times and the wars the world endures.
