G.I. JOE, the world’s first action figure
Forty years ago, Hasbro revolutionized the toy industry and the way boys play by introducing G.I. JOE, the world’s first action figure. Generations later, the G.I. JOE brand has become synonymous with action and heroism and leads millions of boys through endless hours of backyard adventures.
In 2004, kids can embark with the G.I. JOE team on another new and exciting adventure – VALOR VS. VENOM. The story is a progression of last year’s SPYTROOPS adventure and is the theme across all G.I. JOE VS.
COBRA merchandise this year, including Hasbro’s toy and game line, featuring the innovative VOICE FX that brings action figures to a new level, as well as comic books and other licensed merchandise. Plus, this year, the G.I. JOE forces take on the home video market with 'G.I. JOE: VALOR VS. VENOM', a new full-length feature packed with thrilling, non-stop action that will be available this fall from Paramount Home Entertainment.
Hasbro builds upon the G.I. JOE brand’s well-earned reputation as a maker of realistic action figures based on military and civil service heroes. Among the highlights of the popular realistic heroes lineup are two collections based on the U.S. Marines: WWII LIBERATORS and modern Marine Forces. Also, Hasbro adds to the G.I. JOE Medal of Honor series with the introduction of General Douglas MacArthur and Marine Petty Officer Francis Pierce figures.
For kids at heart, Hasbro will also celebrate the 40-year heritage of the G.I. JOE brand with a special 40th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION that recaptures the nostalgia of the first G.I. JOE 12-inch action figures in authentically detailed packaging, uniforms and accessories.
