Growing from strength to strength
To kick off the new year with fun and excitement, the Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair will bring a kaleidoscope of innovative toys and games to global toys traders.
The fair is set for record success in 2004, with over 1,750 exhibitors coming from all corners of the world. Among them will be a large representation of regional pavilions from the Chinese mainland, Germany, India, Italy, Pakistan, Korea, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand, confirming once again the high status of the show internationally.
With such a diverse mix of exhibits, buyers will find a wide spectrum of toys and games products. These include battery operated and electronic toys, educational toys, party needs, soft toys, outdoor and sporting items, baby toys, die-cast/mechanical toys and action figures - to name just a few from the major sections.
Also noteworthy are two special interest sections: Hobby Goods and Bicycles. Launched in 2003, the Hobby Goods section will include around 30 companies displaying models, puzzles, miniatures, play sets, collectible items, board games and more. Buoyed by the satisfactory results reaped in 2003, this section will continue to offer buyers additional choices for stocking. To further empower the show, the organisers will introduce a Bicycle Section in 2004, which is expected to have around 10 companies participating.
The fair continues to excel by providing timely market intelligence to toys traders. During the four-day event, four seminars have been lined up including two industrial seminars on the ICTI Code of Business Practices Certification Programme and the Future Trend of Product Safety. Another interesting seminar will be hosted by Mr Gary Hoiem, Director International Brand Management, Toys 'R' Us Inc. The focuses on the hottest issue for trade between Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland - the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement. Under the agreement, 273 types of products exported from Hong Kong to the mainland will be exempt from import tariff after January 1, 2004.
