American Medical Association, National Education Association, YMCA among the groups supporting the switch to a TV-free lifestyle

More Than Games proudly joins the American Medical Association, the Association for Childhood Education International, the National Association for Gifted Children, the YMCA, and 70 other supporting organizations, plus thousands of schools, libraries, and community groups nationwide in a coordinated effort to encourage millions of Americans to turn off their TV sets for seven days.

According to Nielsen Media Research, Americans watch an average of over four hours of television each day. That adds up to more than one day each week, two months of each year, and nine years by age 65. TV-Turnoff Week, is a chance to turn off the TV and turn on life--to read, exercise, and to spend time with family and friends enjoying games and conversation. Other supporting organizations include American Academy of Pediatrics, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and the International Reading Association.
