LeapFrog Enterprises Inc., a leading developer of innovative technology-based educational products, is proud to announce its newest reading adventure for the LeapPad learning system--the classic children's story, Dr. Seuss The Cat in the Hat, will be available at Wal-Mart stores nationwide through the holiday season.

Starring Mike Myers in the title role, the highly-anticipated film adaptation of the literary classic from Academy Award winning producer Brian Grazer and director Bo Welch.

In the LeapPad book, the classic Cat in the Hat and other famous characters from the timeless Dr. Seuss story will help children acquire essential language arts skills, including: reading comprehension, vocabulary development, spelling and sentence structure through storytelling and fun word-play games. Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat joins a growing library of over 70 titles in the LeapPad library.

Dr. Seuss The Cat in the Hat is a classic of children’s literature that has helped millions of children learn to read. We think that Universal has done a fantastic job of bringing the original book to life. LeapFrog’s content team worked with Universal throughout the development process for more than eight months. Many of the actors from Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat movie also worked on Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat book for the LeapPad learning system, including: Kelly Preston, Dakota Fanning, Spencer Breslin and Amy Hill. About Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat for the LeapPad learning system Based on the popular movie, this interactive version of Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat is packed with activities and games that will help develop essential language arts skills, designed for children in second grade. Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat joins the growing library of titles for the LeapPad family, which will include more than 70 unique titles by the end of 2003, from a step-by-step phonics program, to favorite characters such as Dora the Explorer, Disney’s Princesses, Scooby Doo and Winnie the Pooh, etc. The book will be available at other major retailers nationwide.

The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss was first published in 1957 and remains one of the top ten best-selling hardcover children’s books of all time. The mischievous feline visitor in the striped stove-pipe hat makes his big screen debut this year with this live-action production, which will bring to life the delightfully offkilter Dr. Seuss characters – as well as some new ones created especially for the film – to live on the big screen.

Dr. Seuss’ The Cat in the Hat has been rated PG (Parental Guidance Suggested - Some Material May Not Be Suitable For Children) for mild crude humor and some double entendres.
