Dr. Toy Lists Interactive Toy as Best Classic Toy

Dr. Toy’s Guide, an award-winning consumer Web site that reports on the best in children’s products, has selected GeoSafari Laptop as a winner in the Dr. Toy’s Best Classic Products for 2001 program. Educational Insights’ interactive toy has received a certificate of commendation, as well as the Dr. Toy Classic Award Winner seal.

GeoSafari Laptop is an interactive laptop designed for players, ages 3 years to adulthood. The hardware is a compact, durable, battery-powered, go-anywhere laptop, with LED light and sound to keep track of scores and announce winners. The lesson card packs, available for ages 8 and up or 3-7, each feature 126 lessons on 63 double-sided data cards. The cards pose questions to the players sequentially or at random. Topics cover geography, sports, nature, history, science, trivia and much more. GeoSafari Laptop can be played alone or by competing teams or pairs.

In her article Why Classic Toys are Important, Dr. Stevanne Auerbach, also known as Dr. Toy, lists the elements of a classic toy: play value, simplicity, creativity, timelessness, and a response to skills development.

According to Kevin Casey, Vice President of Educational Sales and Marketing for Educational Insights, Our Laptop comprises all these factors. Its versatility, durability and engaging method of play have earned it a place as a classic toy for the twenty-first century. In fact, our entire GeoSafari line has proved itself to be extremely popular and 2001 marks GeoSafari’s 10th anniversary. We remain dedicated to creating products that will withstand the test of time.
